Police say human remains have since been found in a burnt-out vehicle near Dawson Creek.

The B.C.'s RCMP's serious crime unit has now taken over the investigation after it was determined human remains were found inside the car, according to a news release from Dawson Creek RCMP. It is now a homicide investigation.

B.C. RCMP Supt. Sanjaya Wijayakoon said police are looking to speak with anyone that may have knowledge of the incident or anyone who had seen a grey 2005 Mazda 6.

Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a report of a burnt-out vehicle on Oct. 13, southwest of Dawson Creek, near the area of 251 Road and Kiskatinaw River area.

Anyone in that area in the days leading up to Oct. 13 are asked to contact Dawson Creek RCMP at 1-877-987-8477.
