NORWICH, Conn. (WFSB) - New 25% tariffs on imported furniture products went into effect this week, forcing some local furniture stores to raise prices for customers.
At Dave’s Mattress & Furniture in Norwich, owner Dave Zaczynski said he absorbed earlier tariff costs but recently had to increase prices on some items.
“There’s definitely been some higher price increase that just kind of hit the doors in the last few weeks,” Zaczynski said.
The new tariffs apply to upholstered wood products, kitchen cabinets and vanities. Earlier this year, the federal government imposed tariffs on other furniture items.
