Area neighbourhoods have many renters and post-secondary students

Ward 7 residents are feeling worried about their safety months after a shooting in the area of Rosedale and Crescent Heights .

On Aug. 28, a shelter-in-place order was made for several communities within Ward 7 after a wanted individual was found dead in a home on Crescent Road N.W.

“I didn’t expect that when I moved to the area,” said Mount Pleasant renter Jessica Stewart.

While crime is a concern all over the city, community members are noting that safety is a big concern in the ward.

“It’s not just small things, like petty crime, it’s murders that are happening,” said Stewart.
