The Portland Trail Blazers have started to pare down their training camp roster.

The Blazers on Friday waived guard Javonte Cooke, the team announced, leaving their roster at 17 players, which includes a pair of two-way players.

Cooke remains in contention for the final two-way spot on the roster, according to a team source.

The Blazers signed Cooke to an Exhibit 10 contract in September and he took part in training camp, playing in three of the team’s four exhibition games. The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds and had his best performance in the team’s exhibition opener, when he produced nine points and three rebounds in nine minutes.

He did not play in the Blazers’ exhibition finale at the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
