An Toronto woman who was involved in a deadly collision in Rexdale in 2023 while driving impaired and without a license has been sentenced to four years in prison, and temporarily barred from driving upon release.

Tara MacMunn was found guilty of one count of impaired driving causing death in an Ontario court Friday. The 41-year-old woman pleaded guilty in June.

MacMunn exchanged tearful goodbyes with family members before she was lead from the courtroom in handcuffs to serve her sentence.

In her ruling, Ontario Superior Court Justice Katherine Corrick denied a request from MacMunn’s lawyer for a three-year sentence and ruled that MacMunn will not be allowed to drive for eight years after she is released from prison.
