A recent proposal to house federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees in Douglas County has led to the resignation of the Nebraska state director for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
While Elsa Aranda was in favor of the ICE detention facility in Douglas County, she submitted her resignation to LULAC Thursday.
She sent KETV the resignation email in which Aranda said she resigned “in protest,” citing an “unsustainable and hostile environment” within the organization.
In the email, Aranda accused the organization of being “inaccurate and deceitful,” and said it “refused to retract” public statements related to the proposal. She was referring to other media reports about LULAC’s involvement. Aranda added, "Your own inability to be honest on y
