A 53-year-old man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of splashing gas around a McDonald’s in Anaheim and attempting to ignite it with a butane torch.
Martin Badillogonzalez was accused of emptying a soda bottle full of gas at the restaurant about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at 119 W. Ball Road, between Anaheim and Harbor boulevards, and then trying to ignite it with the torch, said Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Matt Sutter.
Two good Samaritans, who got splashed with the gas, smelled the fuel and quickly took the suspect down and held him until police arrived, Sutter said.
Badillogonzalez was seen shouting obscenities and threats at a front counter before he emptied the fuel around, Sutter said.
