The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has said that it does not suspect foul play in the death of Indian singer Zubeen Garg, even as they continue their investigation in the matter.

In a statement issued on Friday, the SPF said it was aware of “speculation and false information circulating online” about the circumstances of Garg’s death and urged the public not to spread unverified claims.

“Based on preliminary investigations, the SPF does not suspect foul play,” the statement said, adding that a detailed probe was underway. Once completed, findings of the probe -- expected to take up to three more months -- will be submitted to the state coroner, who will decide whether to hold a coroner’s Inquiry.
