Thirty paintings created by the late TV host and painter Bob Ross will be auctioned to support public television, with the first three set to be sold in Los Angeles on Nov. 11.

Known for his distinctive hair, calm voice, and paintings, Bob Ross empowered viewers to make their own art through his show "The Joy of Painting." Now, some of that artwork will be up for auction.

"I've chosen 30 paintings because I think they're the prettiest, although they're all lovely, but most of them are going to be the paintings that Bob did on television," President of Bob Ross Inc., Joan Kowalski, said.

Kowalski said she came up with the idea right around the time federal funding cuts were happening for public television. All the money raised would go to supporting public broadcasters.
