FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An Arkansas woman is suing state police after they allegedly held her and her child at gunpoint at a gas station in 2024, which she said violated their Fourth Amendment rights.
Payton Sue Mallia, 27, and her child, then only four years old, were reportedly at a Casey's General Store on Wedington Drive in Fayetteville on July 12, 2024, when the incident occurred.
Mallia's complaint claims she arrived at the store at 7 a.m. and then went in with her son, bought some items, and returned to her car, when four troopers arrived with blue lights activated.
The suit said the troopers were driving four separate cars and arrived at the Casey's at the same time, immediately blocking Mallia's car and got out of their vehicles carrying weapons.
The troopers were identified as T
