SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) -- Local political organizations spoke to WSAV ahead of Saturday's "No Kings" protests that have been planned across the nation and right in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
Kris Mecholsky is one of the founders of Coastal Georgia for Democracy, an organization who have helped put together the "No Kings" protest in Savannah.
“We're getting together because we love America and we want to stand up for its basic principles," Mecholsky said. "This is just about democracy and the separation of powers like the founders meant.”
The message behind the protest is that they believe the president in not following the Constitution and that there needs to be a separation of power, Mecholsky told WSAV.
