DULUTH — A memorable day for Minnesota Duluth captain Miriam Marsan proved to be a successful one for the Bulldogs' women's soccer team on Friday at Malosky Stadium.

The senior midfielder from Eden Prairie scored her first career hat trick as the Bulldogs defeated Minnesota State Moorhead 4-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

Marsan opened the scoring in the 19th minute and added to it in the 33rd as UMD went to halftime with a two-goal lead.

Elaina Shromoff scored 78 seconds into the second period to effectively clinch three conference points for UMD, but Marsan got a chance to finish her 60th appearance for the Bulldogs with a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
