MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Merced City School District is one step closer to powering its buses exclusively with electricity.
The district announced Friday that it completed its Electric Vehicle Charger Infrastructure Project to provide full charging capability for its growing fleet of electric school buses.
The project took off in 2024, when the district placed 10 electric school buses into service thanks to a $4 million grant from the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District.
According to MCSD, each electric bus costs approximately $495,000.
