Community-driven conservation and tourism have put the quiet, little-known settlement of Kaimoi village in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh in the spotlight.

The village has bagged the Best Tourism Village Award 2025, conferred by the state’s Tourism Department on World Tourism Day (September 27).

A visit to Kaimoi is not only breathtaking natural beauty but also a strong collective will to preserve and promote it.

Led by Rajiv Wangsa, the energetic Zila Parishad Member of Longchan, the villagers have been galvanised by their newfound recognition. “We want to take Kaimoi beyond the state — to the national and even international level,” Wangsa said, reflecting the community’s growing confidence.
