STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There were seven reported vehicle thefts during the week of Oct. 6 through Oct. 12, according to NYPD data.
Despite the number, the amount of automobile thefts reported in the borough this year has gone down.
Car thefts reported through Oct. 12 dropped 34% (184 vs. 277) when compared to the same period in 2024, according to the NYPD’s latest CompStat figures.
According to the database, 2021 was the last time car thefts on the borough were this low.
The database indicates that seven cars were stolen on Staten Island between Oct. 6 and 12 — the most recent week for which statistics are available.

On Oct. 6 at 10 a.m., a car theft was reported on Bay and Canal streets in Stapleton.
