Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday demanded the restoration of statehood. He said that the Modi government never said that statehood would only be granted if the BJP came to power.

He appealed to the central government to fulfill its promise and restore statehood as soon as possible. Omar clearly stated that he would not compromise with the BJP for the restoration of statehood.

He said that three steps were mentioned in Parliament while abrogating Article 370 - first delimitation, then elections, and finally statehood. Delimitation and elections have taken place, but statehood has not yet been granted.

Omar Abdullah held a press conference on the completion of one year of the government. He told the media that the central government should fulfill its commitment. H
