Srinagar- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday clarified that the government’s promise of 200 free electricity units for households will be implemented only after the comprehensive rollout of smart meters across Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that his party had never pledged to abolish their installation.

“Without smart meters, it is impossible to precisely quantify power consumption and thereby fulfil the commitment of free units,” Omar said.
