Over 200 Naxalites surrendered in Chhattisgarh's Abujhmad region in one of the biggest such instances of surrender.

At least 208 Naxalites surrendered in Abujhmad with 153 weapons, including rifles and gun. They were welcomed back into mainstream society in a ceremony held in the state on October 17.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai held a press conference regarding the Naxal surrenders and said that the state is becoming "Naxal-free", declaring that good governance, development and trust are winning over "red terror".

The Naxals handed hundreds of weapons including 19 AK-47 rifles, 17 self-loading rifles, 23 INSAS rifles, an INSAS LMG (light machine gun), thirty-six .303 rifles, four carbines and 11 barrel grenade launchers (BGL), as per news agency PTI.
