AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott spoke at the 2025 Texas Nuclear Summit on Friday.

At the summit, the governor spoke on how alternative sources of power, like nuclear energy, are becoming more important as the state of Texas grows.

“Whether it be population growth, business growth or economic growth, that alone necessitates more power. It necessitates alternative sources of power, ways we can be additive to our power platform,” Abbott said. “The lifeblood of every business increasingly depends on affordable, reliable power."

During the event, the Texas Nuclear Alliance also presented Abbott with the “Atomic Texan Award.”
