Cyber fraudsters posing as National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief and top Lucknow officers of the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) duped a 70-year-old businessman from Pune of Rs 1.44 crore in a “digital arrest” scam.
The victim, who is a resident of Mahatma Society in Kothrud, lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Cyber police station of Pune city police on Friday.
The complainant, in the FIR, stated he was residing with his wife and a fraudster, posing as police inspector Rajesh Kumar Singh from Mumbai , called him on WhatsApp around 4 pm on September 23.
The fraudster said that the ATS Lucknow had arrested a terrorist who used bank accounts in the complainant’s name for terror activities. The fraudster also claimed that the complainant had been given “commi
