Northern Ontario’s top women’s curling team are kicking off their 11th season together. After a warmup cashspiel earlier this month, things will get pretty real for the foursome when they open action at the Canadian Olympic Pre-Trials in Wolfville, N.S., on Monday.
Last spring and summer was a time of transition for Scharf, Kendra Lilly, Ashley Sippala and Sarah Potts. From the moment their 4-4 playoff-less run ended at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts nationals in Thunder Bay last February, the team faced questions on their future and whether they had enough points in the Canadian Team Ranking System to reach the eight-rink pre-trials field with a chance to play in the main trials.
