Kings had no choice but to cut talented guard after Russell Westbrook took his spot

Terence Davis had a decent chance to make the Sacramento Kings ' roster.

And then they signed Russell Westbrook.

That was the end of that for Davis, who was waived this weekend, according to Sean Cunningham .

That was the move needed to reduce the Kings' roster to the maximum of 15 players. If Westbrook hadn't signed, they already would've been at that number and wouldn't have had to cut anyone.

Davis was waived by Sacramento in September, but then was brought back in with another chance to make the team.

He was a solid player for the Kings in 2022-23, when he averaged 6.7 points per game while shooting 36.6% from 3-point range.
