Battle Creek police officers arrested a 49-year-old Battle Creek man early Wednesday, Oct. 15, in connection with a stabbing near Main Street and Pittee Street.

Officers responded to the area around 12:15 a.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing. The suspect fled on foot before officers arrived, police said in a Friday news release.

Police spoke with the victim and witnesses at the scene. LifeCare Ambulance and the Battle Creek Fire Department also responded. A 31-year-old Battle Creek man was transported for treatment and is currently in stable condition, police said.
