FAIRMONT — From eerie shadows in the hills to glowing eyes in the night, West Virginia’s legendary creatures have captured imaginations for generations. Are these monsters real, or just spooky campfire stories passed down through the years?

In a two-part Halloween debate, the Fairmont State University Debate Team will face off over the truth behind the Mountain State’s most famous cryptids. The debate will be held at the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center on Monday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m., and Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 12:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available. kAm“(6 42?’E H2:E E@ H2E49 E96 724ED 2?5 7@=<=@C6 7=J[” D2:5 u@=<=:76 r6?E6C s:C64E@C {J5:2 (2CC6?] “(6’C6 H@?56C:?8 :7 '688:6 |2? @C 2?J @E96C =@42= 4CJAE:5D H:== 36 :? 2EE6?52?
