BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A woman and an infant are dead and a man is seriously injured after a fire broke out at a home in Elmwood Village Saturday morning, a city spokesperson said.

The Buffalo Fire Department responded to 428 Norwood Avenue around 8:35 a.m. A fire was located on the first floor of a 2 1/2-story multiple-occupancy home and was confined to that area.

A 29-year-old woman and an infant were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the spokesperson. A 30-year-old man was taken to ECMC with serious injuries.

Damage is estimated at $100,000 to the building and its contents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. More information is expected at a later time.
