The Temecula Valley girls volleyball team has been selected for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs for the second consecutive season.

The Golden Bears finished eighth in the final section rankings, and the Golden Bears (18-3) will host Oaks Christian (25-4) in a first-round match Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Last year, Temecula Valley was among the eight teams chosen for the section’s top division. With that came an automatic berth into the CIF State playoffs. That will not be the case this season. The Division 1 bracket has 12 teams, and only the eight teams that advance to the quarterfinal round will punch a ticket to the state playoffs.
