CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) announced that the ongoing federal government shutdown is causing delays in the issuance of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
According to the department, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service (USDA FNS) has directed West Virginia and other state SNAP agencies to delay issuing October 2025 benefits that were approved on or after October 16.
Officials also warned that if the federal government shutdown continues, November 2025 SNAP benefits could be delayed for all recipients.
