The three candidates hoping to be New York City’s next mayor hit the debate stage for the first time Thursday.
With 33-year-old state assembly member and Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani poised as the race’s current front-runner, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent, and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, founder and CEO of the Guardian Angels, traded jabs at Mamdani and each other.
The nearly two-hour-long debate covered everything from Cuomo’s response as governor to the coronavirus pandemic to Mamdani’s stance on Hamas and how much each candidate spent on food and housing.
Here are four takeaways from the debate.
