The Oct. 14 Dare County League of Women Voters (LWV) candidate forum in Kitty Hawk featured the two competitors vying for the mayor’s job, former mayor Gary Perry and current Council Member Charlotte Walker.

Two Town Council candidates, incumbent Jeff Pruitt and newcomer Peter Mantz, are also on the ballot but running unopposed. As the candidates in the only competitive race, moderator Courtney Gallop posed questions from the audience to the mayoral hopefuls. Pruitt and Mantz were given the option to respond to a question if they wished to do so.
