GONZALES, La. (WAFB) - A Gonzales couple is behind bars after investigators say they took nearly $187,000 for a residential construction project without completing any work.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Angel Lambert, 37, and William Lambert III, 43, were arrested on charges of Residential Contractor Fraud, Forgery, Obstruction of Justice, and Theft over $25,000.

Detectives began investigating the pair in June after a homeowner reported no progress on the project since April. Investigators say the Lamberts accepted payment for the work despite not having a contractor’s license.
