More than 100 students from the Sudbury, Manitoulin and Sault Ste. Marie areas braved cool and cloudy conditions at the Grand Nord Mountain Bike Race, held at Kivi Park in Sudbury on Oct. 10.

Riders in novice, junior and senior divisions tackled a challenging five-kilometre course, completing it two or three times depending on their category for a total distance ranging of 10-15 km.

“It’s incredible to see our students push themselves with such passion and energy,” Dan Beaulne, race organizer for Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord, said in a release from the school board.

“A true example of determination.”
