The Labor government is feeling bullish about the Prime Minister's upcoming meeting with the US President, with a critical minerals deal set to be on the table.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is travelling to Washington DC over the weekend as he prepares for his first bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump.

The trip for Mr Albanese will come hot off the heels of a holiday with fiancée Jodie Haydon.

The Prime Minister is due to land in Washington late on Sunday local time before he will head to the White House on Monday morning for an Oval Office discussion with the President, at around 2am Tuesday AEDT.

Resources Minister Madeleine King and Industry Minister Tim Ayres will also travel to the US for the trip.
