The America I knew and worked in, valued research, science, clinical studies and higher education. My first job as a programmer, in the early days of mainframe computers, was at the Roswell Park Cancer Center. I was employed by Health Research Inc., a division of Roswell, which was funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health, a part of the U.S. Health and Human Services department.
My View: America once valued scientific research that saved lives. Are those days gone?
