All season long, Peak to Peak boys tennis has been a force in Class 4A. On Saturday, down at Pueblo City Park, its run came to an end when Vivaan Bhardwaj and Shreyas Sundaresan, and No. 1 and 2 singles, both fell in their respective state championship matches.
Earlier in the week, the Pumas lost in the semifinals of the team state tournament to Colorado Academy.
Bhardwaj, a senior, faced a tough test in D’Evelyn’s Nithesh Karuppasamy, who dispatched him in 12 straight games. He said he entered the tournament with a good dose of confidence, having played all of his eventual competitors earlier in the year.
