Amid a government shutdown, protesters across the United States gathered to oppose the Trump administration’s policies during “No Kings” rallies this weekend — and Boulder County was no exception.

On Saturday, rallies were expected in Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville and Lyons. Volunteers also coordinated protests in Broomfield, Erie and at the state Capitol in Denver, according to mobilize.us/nokings.

Previous Longmont rallies this year have stayed along Main Street, with protesters using the Sixth Avenue and Main plaza as their hub. On Saturday, the Longmont crowd gathered in Roosevelt Park before marching to Main Street.

Lyn Lowry, one of the rally coordinators, said there were over 1,000 online registrants for the Longmont protest as of Saturday morning. Around 2 p.m., Lowry
