LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville community members participated in tree planting at Shelby Academy and Preston Park on Saturday as part of a local organization’s mission to preserve the Metro’s tree canopy.
The group effort was hosted by TreesLouisville and saw volunteers plant over 30 new trees, including mulching, staking, and watering. Those participating were also able to help with previously planted trees from the organization.
This was the first tree planting of the season, and one of the final outings for the group’s Tree Week celebration.
Attendees told WAVE that the event was a great way to help the community and build bonds with other residents.
