Southern entered its homecoming game just as disappointed as any fan who didn't expect one victory through seven weeks.
To add to the win column for the first time since Aug. 30, the Jaguars needed to beat a Prairie View team that owned the top spot in the Southwestern Athletic Conference West standings.
While hungry for success, the Jaguars once again couldn’t muster enough big plays on either side to pull off the upset. They lost their homecoming game to Prairie View 24-3 on Saturday at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
Southern (1-6, 0-3) is on a five-game losing streak. Prairie View (5-2, 4-0) improved its win streak to four and gave up the fewest points it has this year.
