SANDPOINT, Idaho – The Sandpoint Police Department (SPD) announced the passing of Corporal Michael Hutter on Thursday evening. Hutter was receiving treatment for unspecified health concerns at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.

“Mike served this community with honor, compassion, and unwavering dedication,” SPD officials said. They emphasized his role not only as an officer but also as a friend and mentor.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) joined SPD in mourning Corporal Hutter.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sandpoint Police Department and the family of Corporal Michael Hutter during this difficult time. We stand with our brothers and sisters in law enforcement as we honor his service and dedication to the community,” KCSO officials stated.
