All indications were that George Springer would be in the lineup for his 77th post-season game Sunday as the Blue Jays fight to prolong the American League championship series.
Springer collapsed in pain after being hit on the right kneecap Friday by a 95.6-m.p.h. fastball from Bryan Woo, who didn’t appear particularly apologetic. Springer tried to walk it off but conceded the obvious — he wasn’t running on that leg.
“Feeling better today,’’ Jays manager John Schneider of his designated hitter. “CT scan he got last night, negative. Just a contusion, as we say. But he’s getting treatment. He’s going to be doing some stuff here in a little, probably moving around. But feeling a lot better than he did yesterday.’’
