SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Improvements are underway at one of the Springfield Fire Department's stations.

The department announced that an interior remodel of Fire Station 9 on Chatham Road started Saturday.

According to the department, the project will modernize the station's living and working spaces, improving comfort and functionality for firefighters.

SFD said they will continue posting updates on their Facebook page as construction is completed.
