It hasn’t taken long for Philadelphia Flyers first-round pick Porter Martone to make an impact in the NCAA.
Martone had his first goal in the college ranks and added an assist as the third-ranked Michigan State Spartans completed a two-game sweep of the No. 1 Boston Terriers with a 4-3 overtime win in Beantown on Saturday.
Martone, picked sixth overall by the Flyers this year, has one goal and four assists in four games with Michigan State (3-1).
The native of Peterborough, Ont. made the decision to leave the OHL’s Brampton Steelheads and join Michigan State this summer, ahead of the first season when former CHL players were eligible to play in the NCAA.
