John Tavares has joined one of hockey’s most exclusive clubs.
With two goals on Saturday against the Seattle Kraken, the Toronto Maple Leafs centreman recorded his 500th point with the club, making him one of just four players in NHL history to notch 500-plus points with two franchises.
Tavares (Islanders and Maple Leafs), now in the rare 500/500 club, joined Wayne Gretzky (Oilers and Kings), Mark Messier (Oilers and Rangers) and current Kraken president of hockey operations Ron Francis (Hurricanes/Whalers & Penguins).
Not only did Tavares’ two goals put him in rarefied air, but they also moved him closer to the 500-goal plateau as he now sits three goals shy of the milestone.
