LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - No. 3 Michigan State finished a weekend sweep of No. 1 Boston on Saturday with a 4-3 overtime win.
With 1:19 to play in overtime, MSU's Shane Vansaghi swiped away a puck just before it crossed the goal line. The game-saving clearance set up a game-winning goal on the other end of the ice just nine seconds later, as the bouncing puck Vansaghi sent away was gathered by Ryker Lee, who passed it to Matt Basgall for a one-time shot that beat the goalie and gave the Spartans the win.
The thrilling finish capped off a statement weekend for the Spartans, who won game one of the weekend 4-2 on Friday.
The other goals in Saturday's overtime win were scored by Lee, Porter Martone and Tommi Mannisto.
