Scott Allan got an early insight into Kieran Tierney ’s drive as a member of the same car pool making the daily trip to Lennoxtown.
That was a decade ago when he was in his first season with Celtic and Tierney was an 18-year-old academy graduate putting the foot down on a career that was about to go from 0-100 in the blink of an eye.
Allan was the elder statesman on that 45-minute commute from the outskirts of Glasgow to the Hoops HQ in the shadow of the Campsie Fells.
But it was the maturity, aggression and determination of the teenage Tierney that blew him away - not to mention the youngster’s engine.
It’s those characteristics which convince Allan that, 10 years on, only a fool would write-off the left-back’s chances of returning to the kind of levels
