ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Hundreds lined Franklin Street in downtown Rocky Mount for a No Kings protest Saturday, chanting “No Kings, No Crowns - we the people stand our ground.”

Similar protests took place Saturday in Roanoke, Christiansburg and Floyd, among other hometowns,

Governor Youngkin had approved duty for the Virginia National Guard in case of any safety issues with crowds.

The organizer’s website says the protesters “won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty.”

These are the second “No Kings” protests of the year and the third protest against government actions since President Trump took office.

Republican party leaders including House Speaker Mike Johnson are calling the protests “Hate America” rallies .
