Some were sentenced to death decades ago, for murders committed in the 1980s and 1990s. Others were convicted within the past several years. None of them will be executed any time soon.
Gov. Mike DeWine imposed a de facto moratorium on executions that's expected to last until he leaves office in 2027. For the people on death row, that means more time to appeal their cases or reprieves for previously scheduled executions.
