Neither a lineup shakeup nor the return to Hampus Lidholm could stop the Bruins’ losing streak.

The Bruins scored the first goal of the game but never got on the board again and fell to the Avalanche, 4-1, Saturday, in Denver.

They fell to 3-3-0 after opening 3-0. They’ll try to reverse course on Sunday when they travel to Salt Lake City to face the Utah Mammoth.

Boston managed just 14 shots on Scott Wedgewood and none of those were by David Pastrnak , Elias Lindholm or Morgan Geekie. Viktor Arvidsson, who’d been dropped to the third line, led the team with four of them.

Johnny Beecher, who made the Bruins out of training camp, was active for the first time this season. He made the most of his chance and scored the game’s opening goal.
