TAOS, N.M. —

An off-duty police officer died Friday afternoon when the motorcycle he was on collided with an SUV.

Anthony Martinez joined the Questa Police Department in May. He had served as an officer for the Taos Police Department for two years, and before that, worked with tribal agencies.

The crash, which is still under investigation, happened at the intersection of Albright Street and Paseo del Pueblo Sur. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries
