A mum was sexually assaulted in a terrifying attack on a Birmingham canal towpath.

The 39-year-old was grabbed and pushed towards bushes by a man who followed her and made a sexual demand. It happened next to the Grand Union Canal in Acocks Green on the evening of Sunday, October 5.

There was a struggle before she fled in tears.

“I have never had that feeling before by the canals," she said. “Since it happened, the only walk I have done is to the local shop and back, which is really unlike me. It has put me off.”

Her ordeal happened next to a stretch of canal near Woodcock Lane North and Cambridge Way at around 6.30pm.
