PISCATAWAY, N.J. — An Oregon defense yearning to create more havoc, especially from its front seven, did just that against a hapless Rutgers team that allows a lot of negative plays.

The No. 8 Ducks recorded eight tackles for loss, including three sacks, eight pass breakups, two interceptions, forced two fumbles and recovered one on 69 plays by the Scarlet Knights in a 56-10 drubbing Saturday night at SHI Stadium.

“It’s going to lead to success when you create turnovers,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. “We had some too; so we got to make sure that we improve that. We challenged our guys to be able to create some and those showed up. We said all week and really today we’re not chasing stats, we’re chasing the standard.”
